Monday was another hectic day. Kaine’s football banquet was Monday night, Jaxsen had a basketball game. We had some people out to look at foals. Dad had a dr appointment. Cows calving, Ben tagging calves, you know, a usual Monday. Kaine was co defensive player of the year with his friend Tucker. We got a picture of all the Jr boys, there is a big group of them. Kade and Toni moved the weanling colts around back, got three more in the halter breaking pen, and fixed two down poles in between the studs in the dark. It doesn’t sound like much, but moving the colts was a job on its own. They had to get all the weanlings in, sort the fillies back out, then move the colts. I hear it went really well. Sarge decided he couldn’t go with the other colts so he got walked back to the pen after all the rest. The colts went to the back of Mom and Dad’s in between the old mare pen and the corral, so the colts had to walk around the house, passed a bunch of stuff and they all did great.

Tuesday was foggy, but not as cold. We had our first clubby calf, out of a Red Angus cross cow we got from Mike Corrales and by Trump Train. Ben went and got some little straw bales, a friend said we could pick through their bottom bales before they discard of them, there were only a dozen or so that were still good. Toni and Kade tied the foals up to the donkeys, the donkeys had had a few weeks off due to mud, and I guess they thought they were done for the year, they were not the best. The colts in this week are Fire, who is really big and our oldest foal, City, and Gold Buckle Dreams. Yes, we call him by his full name. Gold Buckle Dreams took about 5 seconds and was done. City wasn’t impressed and didn’t do as well. Fire is big, broke a halter and a lead rope, will definitely need more time on the donkey. Kade also started riding Joss again. He just hasn’t had time to ride her, but with her trip to CA coming soon, he needed to make time. She did really well. After chores Kaine went in and watched the girls basketball game.

We had a few more calves on Wednesday. Gold was only the donkey for one day, City two days and Fire three. The final count was that Fire broke 2 halters and 4 lead ropes. Kade led Gold Buckle Dreams on Wed, City they were able to lead after being on the donkey for Wed. Kade rode Joss again on Wed. Kade helped dad get his big star up for Christmas. It is lighted and can be seen from the road. Kaine opened his birthday present from us since I was staying with grandma on Thursday. Toni went home to meetings and I got a text about 8 pm that she found some horse she wanted to buy.

Happy Happy birthday Kaine, you are the big 1 7. Anna and Lane came home from U of I on Thursday afternoon. They finished their finals and are on Christmas break. Kade rode Joss around out in the driveway and in the mud. Fire had his last day on the donkey and Toni could lead him a bit by the end. Toni and Kade worked on the other two colts, leading them around the corral. Once City got it, he got it, no dinking around. When we talk about leading them, we also tie them for short periods of time. When the week is done, they have been led around and tied all week. I stayed with grandma. And she was a horrible sleeper. Jaxsen got taken to the dr and has pneumonia, which is allegedly going around- the bacterial kind.

On Friday Toni had a hearing, I had a Family Farm call, so Anna went down and showed Suzanne and Mike the horses. I got down there when my call was over, so Anna and Lane went back to cleaning the alley and putting down corn cobs. Suzanne and Mike had lots of choices, so went home with a long list. Toni went and grabbed straw from my house the little bales Ben had picked up, then Toni came down and Marlo, Toni, Kade and I did the horse chores, per the norm. We also put out straw to try to soak up the mud. The straw doesn’t do as well as corn cobs but the straw makes better bedding for the foals We also moved Belle into her pen, where she will stay until she foals this next spring. Kaine went and did the cattle chores.

More calves on Saturday, we got them tagged. Toni showed the boys the colts again on Saturday and they took Shiney Guy home with them. Toni got some pictures for Suzanne and Mike, who are still trying to make a decision on which horse to go with. While out in the pasture, Absolute broke Toni’s pu mirror and took a big chunk out of her pu seat, so she is not happy with that horse. Toni and I got some pics of Fire, City and Gold with our cell phones and took them for a walk about. We also got a bunch of pictures of the fillies. Saturday was a beautiful day. You couldn’t ask for a better Dec day. Kade rode Joss. Anna and I got some pictures of the new calves.

On Sunday we had Kaine’s birthday party, Erina and Terry came down. We had meatballs and Dutch Oven potatoes. Mom made trifle and we had pie. Lots of good food and good times. The overarching theme for Kaine’s bday presents was stuff for his pu. I guess when you turn 17 and are a boy, your pu is your main priority. Kaine and Anna also got to open their Christmas presents from Grandma Sherri. While we had the bday party, a big bald eagle landed in the tree outside of my house, so that was cool. Then we worked on the horses, took the three colts around to the colt pen and got the last two colts in to halter break and Jet. Kade brought his welder down and welded up a joint area on the continuous fence. Both Kaine and Kade are pretty good welders. Thanks to the FFA program at Connell that teaches welding and other really useful life skills. We weaned Santana so he can also get ready to move to CA. Joss and Santana are moving together at the end of the month. They are going to a family we have known for many years that was one of the first families we met in the AQHA Youth program, so that is really cool.

Well we aren’t dashing through the snow, but we are dashing through December. We do have a couple of December specials right now on foals, so if you are wanting a really good deal on a nice weanling, let us know. The Fire colt is big, gritty, smart, and just needs a bit more one on one that we are giving him, so is priced, to the right home, for $2500.00 for December. Peaches is also priced at $2500.00 but we have someone coming to look at her at the end of the month. However, if you want to talk about either of them, let us know. Again, the right home is a must. The countdown to Christmas is upon us! The best gift has four legs and comes in lots of colors.

Monday was Jaxsen’s first basketball game since Hawaii, he had to get enough practices in to play. Toni said he was in the top three in scoring and they won by one point. Great job. Ben is home until 2025, he cleaned up some around the place, hauled some of the silage out to the yearling heifers, filled up the garbage cans, etc. Toni said of the three foals, one was really easy, one was medium, one is giant so you cannot pull him around so he went on the donkey. The donkeys were being a hole and she could only catch one donkey, so I guess it is good she only needed one donkey. Mom, dad and Skip took Susie to Moses Lake to get her hair clipped, and went out to lunch and got groceries.

At work on Tuesday it was foggy, but Ben sent me some snaps of the calves, and it looks sunny at home. It was dark when I left, but was not foggy when I left or when I got to work. Grumpy, Kade’s show heifer from a few years ago calved. She still looks Grumpy. Toni texted me a pony saddle bundle from Teskeys- we don’t have any children that ride ponies so not sure what she is wanting. I think she wants to adopt a child. Not a baby, a child. Toni took Kaine, Kade and Jaxsen to the steer of merit program on Tuesday night. It was clear over in Richland, and started during Hanford rush hour. It is great the program is back on, but it would be nice if it were in Connell, since it is only for the Connell Show. Benton Franklin Fair is refusing to participate. A steer we raised made the criteria and a steer we found for a kid was in the top end. ALL kids get money for going so totally worth it. Prior to leaving Toni worked on the three foals, Sarge was put on the donkey again. He is just super big. Peaches and Buzzy both were able to be led around on day 2. Peaches is soft enough she leads really well. Lots of flex, softness, but also lots of attitude. Buzzy is just a solid super sweet colt.

Ben and dad took a load of heifers to Moses Lake sale yard, we had a lot more heifers than bulls this year so we picked a handful to take in when we bangs vaccinated. Toni helped Ben load and the wild b about knocked Ben down but loaded fine the second round. She didn’t video it because the mud was deep and she was wondering if she was going to have to run in to help him up. Luckily he was holding on to the gate so did some gymnastics but didn’t go down. All the other heifers are decently docile. They sold really well and we are thankful to our buyer. He had been out to the place and viewed the heifers prior to the sale. Then they went into Moses Lake and bought a panel and water trough for the pen we are making for Bell. Also a pallet of tubs for the broodmares. Double N Ranch Supply had everything ready for them. Then went to get Dad his gun safe he had bought. So a very productive trip. Wednesday morning I went to Spokane early to spend the rest of the work week there for a water conference. The calving is really picking up, with the AI cows starting to calve. We are getting a couple each day right now. Toni tied the three foals up, they all did great.

I think Toni said Jaxsen had basketball games Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, so Thursday was his last one of the week. He has been playing great. He is very tall, lots of rebounds, assists, and shots taken. Toni took the three foals out for a walk about on Thursday. She is done using May the donkey so May went back out. Even though Sarge is huge, he is good minded. And he likes Toni so leads really well now that he knows what is expected. All three tie, lead, and are getting exposed to stuff. Specifically dogs. Toni went and stayed with Grandma Thursday night.

On Friday I came home from Spokane around noon. I went out with Ben to tag the calves, Friday the AI cows really started calving and we had 8 calves on Friday. We had to get 530 and 639 in, 530 did not want her bull calf, she wanted 639’s heifer calf. Marlo came to help do chores. It was good for the foals to be exposed to a new person. It didn’t go as well as Toni thought it would. Stranger danger. We got some pics of Sarge and Peaches. Marlo took Buzzy around. Then we put in the panel Dad and Ben got to finish up the Bell pen. Now we just need straw and to move Bell into the pen. We have all the stand alone panels up and have reconfigured that pen. It is really nice and looks good.

Toni went to Colville for the Steven’s County cattlemen’s annual meeting on Saturday, so she left mid-morning. She took Reno (the puppy) up with her to give to Jeff. We had been keeping Reno for Jeff until someone could meet him with her. Toni had a good turnout and spoke for hours on the challenges facing Ag. Then she went to dinner with a family friend and stayed up in Colville due to road conditions. We had 9 calves Saturday, so we kept tagging, we finished the fence on the far side of the New Valley, so we called the cows to the fresh stalks. Kade and I did chores, Kaine was snowmobiling, Anna stayed at U of I for the weekend to study for finals and Jaxsen was sick.

Our 2nd Youth foal left Sunday morning, Skippy went to Rowan, and Skippy is now Scout, because she actually already had a Skip with similar breeding. Kind of funny. Mom thought that was pretty slim odds. Then back to calving, tagging and trying to keep all of the cows with the right calves. We almost got mom’s Hereford Princess in, her water bag broke and 30 min later we were setting gates to get her in and she calved. Kade tied up his Spokane steer. Kaine got home, and we loaded up big bales to take down to mom and dads. Kaine and Kade put out big bales. Toni and I started getting cockle burs out of the yearlings, then Kade helped us finish when we got done. We started moving horses around because we need to split the weaning colts from the fillies. Big bales went out, yearlings went out into the big pasture, Joss was moved into her own pen, and Copper got put in with Mirage. Lots of changes! It was fully dark by the time we got all that done so we didn’t get new foals in. That will have to wait a day. And we didn’t get the colts moved. But lots of progress.

December always reminds me of the Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton. Our mom made many of our clothes growing up, but that made us feel special. Mom actually made a coat for herself using patches cut out of old jeans that were worn out and she still has that coat. December is always a month that brings wonderful family filled memories and stories. On the horse side of things, we have coats of many colors- we have foals in almost every color. The pens of foals are stunningly beautiful with all of the pretty babies. Lots of options to fill that request for anyone that wants a foal under the tree! Come see us to really make someone happy with their gift.

I found some old pictures on Toni’s camera, back from when we could still wear T Shirts.

And now the ones from Last Week.

Happy Happy birthday Anna. Marlo went up to Moscow on Monday and had lunch with the birthday girl. It is a good thing we got the cows worked, they started calving. We had one over the weekend, and 4 on Monday. The cold wind also came on Monday and it has definitely started to feel like fall/winter. The weather has been pretty good until Monday. Kaine, Marlo and Ben did chores. Dad and mom took Skip to the Dr. Yes, Uncle Skip is still living with our parents. We wish we could say he was getting better or improving, but we can’t say that.

Happy Happy Birthday Toni. Tuesday I left early to go to Othello to get cupcakes for the all staff meeting at work. We had a great staff meeting and I took cupcakes home for mom, dad, Skip and Marlo. Marlo and Kaine did chores and Marlo filled us in on her going to Moscow to have lunch with Anna. She did brave bad weather to make Anna’s day special. Mom stayed with Grandma on Tuesday.

On Wednesday the Meachams flew home from vacation, it took all day, it was around midnight when they got home. Kaine did chores on his own, Marlo headed to her next house-sitting appointment. Kaine has been going to school early to do weight lifting with the football team, if he wants to try out for team captain next year he has to go in early. It takes a bit to get him going in the morning, and Lynn is not happy with her sleep-in buddy not sleeping in. Lynn is the mini aussie.

Thursday everyone was back at school, work, etc. Kaine asked if he could go snow boarding with his friends on Saturday since Kade was back to do chores. I said who is the adult, Jay is, not my cousin, his friend Danny’s brother. I said Jay is technically an adult and so was adultish. So I checked with Jade to see if Max was going and Josh said that Jay is very responsible. So we will see if he goes a second time. Toni went down and did chores. We had left two colts, Cowy and Whitty, in the roundpen so she messed with them a little bit. Thursday we also had a harvest date for four of the steers but it was canceled after we had the steers in. Toni went down to let them out and lost a shoe in the mud. It has gotten really muddy since she left. I don’t know that she was happy to be back, but we have work to do. Kade got home and helped with chores.

On Friday Toni went down in the morning and got Hitter in, that is the first youth colt. She had to get him in out of the weanling pen, sort him out, then get him haltered. Makayla, our first youth kid, got to the house about 10:30. Hitter was great, loaded like a champ, and due to weather didn’t stay long before they headed back home. Hitter has been one of our favorite colts this year, I mean they all are, but Hitter has been great and we are excited to see how Makayla does with him. He is a really fancy red dun colt with a good mind, so hopefully she will do well! Then about 1:30 Chad showed up to start trimming. Toni was wearing uninsulated boots so I guess her feet got colt. They first trimmed Breezy. Breezy was out in the winter pasture but somehow had gotten hurt, when we brought her home she fell down in the trailer and almost smashed me when we were getting her out. We have been really trying to baby her along and monitor her. When Chad was out, we realized that she may have hurt her pelvis when she fell. Breezy is doing way better, but things take time. She is in a good condition at this point and in a pen next to the house so easy to watch. After that, Gina got a trim, then they took off Copper’s plastic shoe. Copper has improved so tremendously that we are hopeful for a good recovery. Toni posted a tiktok video on the shoe removal which we also have on the KT Ranch tiktok. It was mostly just getting the epoxy off because Chad did such a good job putting the epoxy on that the shoe was on there really well. Copper then had the full trim. Holly and Gucci also got trimmed up. Marlo rolled in to help do chores and had dinner with Toni. I went and stayed with Grandma on Friday night, she slept a lot better then she has been.

On Saturday we had our November birthday party for Terry, Toni and Anna. Ben made brisket and potatoes, Marlo made a pumpkin cake and Erina made gluten free pumpkin cake. Kade was sick so he did not get to come and Kaine was snow boarding. We still had a really good little family gathering. The food was amazing, everyone was appreciative of their gifts. The dogs loved having all the people over. After that we did chores. Later that night we found out that Anna was one of the 2024 mentors of the year with the 509 Show Circuit and Kade had show heifer of the year with Queen! Queen is a heifer that we raised so we are really proud and excited of both of these kids. Kade had nominated Anna so that award was a surprise to us, and a good one!

On Sunday Kade rode Electra and ponied Pony out in the corn stalks getting Pony exposed to corn stalks hitting her legs and birds flying up. We got most of the corral dewormed, so that takes care of most of the horses at Mom’s. Toni and I went to Omak for Craig Verjaska’s funeral. It was a long snowy drive, but the turn out to send Craig off was a great one. The family should be very proud of the support and memories of Craig. Ben, Anna and Kaine built fence around the corn field and got the cows turned out and the calves tagged. Then the crew took bales down to Mom’s for the horses just like every Sunday. We feel like we didn’t get as much done as normal, but winter activities seem to take longer.

Loved hearing the Life is too short to ride an ugly horse quote on Yellowstone this week. Of course we agree with that! The 2025 calendars have been voted on by our FB friends and are ready to order. If you want to order one, let us know, if you want to look at the pictures, here is the link. https://ktranch.com/merchandise/

Monday was Veterans Day. Happy Veterans Day from our business to you. Today, we remember and honor all who have served or are actively serving. Thank you, veterans! We are lucky to have some very amazing people in our family that have had the distinction of protecting this Country, and we thank them as well as everyone else out there.

On Monday Kade, Kaine and I finished working the calves. Kade rode Jag around. Jag is a full sister to Electra that we call “Pony” because she is a small dynamo. She is sixish and probably 14.2 hands and broad. He is hoping to make her into a heal horse. We moved the pellets into the barn and then went and did chores. We worked on the three colts that are in, Cowy, Whitty and Stoker, all three were awesome. We have not had to use the donkeys in two weeks now. However, we have some big ones coming up that are definitely going to need the donkeys.

On Tuesday Toni loaded out Bee A Bug, and she headed to her new home. She loaded like a champ is what Toni said. Bee a Bug went to a repeat buyer which is always really fun for us. We love it when people love the foals so much they need more than one. Toni worked on the three colts again, then turned Stoker out. She walked out into the weaned foal pen and grabbed Colada out of the middle. Colada has been awesome to deal with and has taken almost everything in stride. Once Colada was caught, she had Dad come out and lead her around as Colada will be loaded out during the week while we are all gone. Colada got put back in since she is headed to her new home soon. Jaxsen was home late due to basketball practice.

Wednesday we woke up to rain. Which is good, I mean, it does not feel good when you are halter breaking, but it is good for the pastures and farm ground around. The Tonis headed to a vacation for a few days Wednesday morning. Kaine got up early to go to school, he was going to an expo he forgot to tell us about. He did not know a lot about where he was going, but he was going with Mr Dansie, I guess that is good enough?? But then he did not end up going anyway.

Thursday Colada was supposed to leave about noon, but Dean showed up at 10:30. Mom decided, even though she had never done anything with Colada, that she would load her. She told Dad and Dean to stay out of her way and loaded Colada like the boss she is. Colada got to her new home without incident. Other than that, it was a typical day, chores, school, work, etc. I stayed with grandma Thursday night. She is still not sleeping.

On Friday Dad and Kaine with to Pomeroy to get the Spokane steers form John Dixon, they are both really nice steers. Ben and I did some cleanup work. Then Kaine, Marlo and I did chores. Anna and Lane got home Friday night. Marlo and I went to Othello and got Checos for dinner.

On Saturday Marlo, Lane, Anna, Kaine, Ben and I worked the cows, we got through them pretty fast considering we were shipping out two bulls and sold some meat as well. There were probably some good stories in the day, but I can’t think of any. The cows all look really good. No one died, so it was all-in-all a good day. Then we did chores.

On Sunday Sam and Erin brought Aubrey and Logan out to get their two clubby heifers, Phoebe and Monica. Then we got Steve’s fat steers in and weighed them and left them in for Steve. Anna and Lane left early since it was supposed to be snowing in Moscow. Marlo, Kaine and I did the horse chores, then Ben and Kaine did the cattle chores, like we had been doing all week. Marlo and I used the new dump trailer to feed a grass straw bale to the weaned pen. We also let Copper out in the big corral where she jumped, bucked, and kicked and showed us that even though she was seriously injured back in August, that she is a survivor. Again, on the Copper front, we could not have done it without a team like the team we have. Our vet team, our farrier team, our home team. Chad and Katie coming up with the plastic shoe for that injured leg has made a world of difference.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! It is time to once again vote for the annual calendar. The 2025 calendar will be full of wonderful pictures voted on by our FB friends. Here is the link for you to vote on your favorites- vote as many times as you would like. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/15Yr6CXMFT/ And I forgot to put the pictures below in the album on FB.

Monday I was home sick, so as Toni called Monday, she got to do Donkey Monday on her own. And June decided she was done halter breaking since she had the week before off. Skippy and Hitman were super easy she said, Fancy Gun and Dancing Queen were more typical foals. Skippy is super easy as long as you are moving, he has no patience, so he is a lot like his mom. Hitman is just a great colt. Kids were home Monday, so they worked on their show animals and prepared for the Western Showcase. Kaine started to feel sick around midday on Monday.
Tuesday Kaine and I were both home sick, but I started feeling better late afternoon, so went down to help Toni with the foals. Kids were all back at school, except Kaine because he was sick. Kade took Jaxsen down to clip his steer, Bugs, on Tuesday. Toni stayed with grandma Tuesday night, she is still not sleeping great. We bought a shorter gooseneck and a dump trailer on Musser Bros on Tuesday. Super excited about the dump trailer, Kade is super excited about the shorter trailer, he wanted a shorter one to take hoping. And a shorter one will be nice when dad only has one or two bulls to haul. Also, when we take both long trailer to shows, there will still be a trailer home for emergencies. OR the kids will think this means they are taking more to the shows…

If you follow Toni on TikTok, you will see her nephew saga with Kaine, and how her Wednesday morning was. As she was driving home from Grandmas she found Kaine with a flat tire on Hendricks Rd. And it was not just flat, it was toast. But don’t worry, he called me first so I could call him in late to school, then called his dad since he did not have a spare tire. The spare tire was also shady, so he drove the Imposter home and took Butte to school. Kaine’s pickup has been broke down for a while. He replaced the transmission, and the housing was cracked, on the new one. So he has been waiting for the fix on that. I do know if they send a new housing, transmission?? We worked on the foals, Kade cleaned out the gooseneck, Kaine hooked up Butte for dad to take to Palouse to get pellets for the show calves.

Dad has now fallen ill, so he is not going to Palouse to get pellets. I paid for the trailers on Thursday so we can pick them up. I talked with Scott Musser for a bit and held Hank the dog. Scott has a really cool bronze sculpture in his office, the kid is closing a wire gate off his horse with his dog watching. Scott says that looks just like him as a kid. I told him that I was impressed, that means he opened the gate off his horse, got through the wire gate without getting caught up in it, sometimes it is hard enough to not get caught up in those things on foot, and was now closing it. I said most of the time I cannot even close them on foot. That was quite a feat. Toni and Leslie went to the cattlemen’s convention.

On Friday we hauled into Western Showcase for our last show of 2024. For most of the cattle it is their first show. I went early to help set up. Leslie, Traci, Toni, McCall, McKenna, Marlo and the kids all came later. We went to Rock Top for dinner. Kaine had a football game on Friday night, so he did not come up until Saturday morning. I hear he played well. Coco and Shea made it up from CA on Friday and went and watched the game.

Saturday morning was the heifer show and showmanship. It was a long day of showing. Kade and Anna both had their big fall Angus heifers and Anna had the two char heifers that mom, dad and her own. Kade had his Simmental heifer and Kaine had Baby Jewel. All of the heifers did really well and placed well. Savannah and Kayla showed peewee. Jaxsen showed his steer Bugs Bunny in showmanship, and Natalie and Julian were also juniors, they did well. Kaine, Kade and Ady are all intermediates, they all showed great. Anna was our lone senior, and she was Reserve Champion Senior. Good job everyone. Kade was headed to Elko, Nevada on Sunday morning for Rangeland competition, so him and Toni took the heifers home. They got home a bit after 9 pm. Saturday was a crazy long day.

On Sunday was the steer show, we only had two steers, Sylvester, Kaines, and Bug Bunny. Both steers did great, but did not get called back. So we packed up and headed home to do chores. Julian and Natalie both had steers that made it back to the final drive. We got home and got our next group of foals in to halter break. Since Toni was basically on her own, we got some easy ones in and Sackett, who also ended up being easy.

On Monday in Nevada Toni got proof of life from Pooty Dagnon. Kade was looking like he was having a good time. Toni said the foals were all great. Kaine had football practice still, but Jaxsen was home to help do chores, since basketball had not started yet. Monday was the only day I was home.

Tuesday I left at 2:30 to get on a plane and fly to New Mexico. In Nevada Kade was judging rangeland. Toni was working and working on foals at home. Kaine was practicing football and Jaxsen was helping with chores. Kade placed the highest on the Connell FFA Team, we are very proud of him.

Wednesday I was at conferences in New Mexico, except Wednesday morning Thea and I went down to Old Town which was pretty cool. Kade and the Connell FFA team was headed home. Chores went the same as Tuesday. Toni went and stayed with Grandma who did not sleep. She fell down on Tuesday night but luckily didn’t break anything, but it made Wednesday night a real humdinger.

On Thursday Ben and Toni bangs vaccinated heifers with Dr Hank Wisse. Toni and Ben made a list of 16 heifers to sell. It was a hard list to make as we think we have an exceptional set of heifers. However, we kept 70 and we don’t need 70 replacement heifers. We had people come out and look at foals as soon as the Bangs was done. They had too many that they liked. That is a common problem. Then Toni worked on foals.

On Friday Toni had Marlo to help her with chores, so she had her work on the foals to check for stranger danger, they all did great. I flew home then Ben and I raced to Omak to watch Kaine play football. Connell did not beat Omak, but Kaine played great. Kat came and watched Kaine play. And Kaine had a great season. He made the 1st team in the league for Offensive Line and 2nd Team for Defensive Line. We are happy Kaine is done with football as we have way too much work at home. We need everyone to start chipping in. However, Jaxsen is playing basketball now, so he is not chipping in much.

On Saturday we had breakfast with Kat and Todd then drove home. Kade went to work a Red Angus Sale. Toni loaded out Whiskey, the horse, then when I got down there we got some pics, turned out the rest and got new victims in. Ben and Kaine brought down grass hay bales and put them out.

Sunday we started working the calves. It was good to get another look at the calves. We still have way too many good ones but were able to pick out a few more to market. We have Cowy, Whitty, and Stoker in. All super nice foals. So far we have been in love with all the foals. That is a real problem with trying to sell foals and calves. Because we are done with the 2024 cattle show season, many of the calves got to be turned out. None of them are very happy. Especially Queen who doesn’t necessarily want to be in general population.

With cattle shows on hiatus, maybe we can get some stuff done around the place. Except we are going to start calving soon, so that takes up a lot of time too.
