Thursday Thoughts

Summer seems to be flying by, and another busy week is already in the books here.

Jaxsen’s girlfriend, Hailey, has been out helping with chores several times, and she’s been a huge help. She’s a hardworking, respectful young lady, and we sure enjoy having her around. Dad has also been making the early morning trips to town with Jaxsen for weight lifting.

Kaine is getting closer to another milestone as he finishes up the hours needed for his CDL. If all goes as planned, he should have everything completed by the first of July.

Away from the ranch, I had the opportunity to tour Cle Elum Dam and see the Helix fish passage in action. It was fascinating to see the engineering and conservation efforts firsthand.

Back at home, the horses are keeping everyone busy. Toni has been riding Holly, while Kade has been putting time on Frappe. He also hauled Electra to Ellensburg this week for surgery to remove a tumor from her nasal cavity. We’re hoping for a smooth recovery and appreciate everyone who has checked in on her.

Anna wrapped up a stretch of full-time work at her internship after filling in for someone who had left. She’s now back to part-time, which means she’s catching up on halter breaking calves as we get our show steers and heifers ready for sale.

We also had some special visitors this week. Our neighbors brought their POA mare over for pictures before she heads to a new home. Abril, who graduated with Kaine, is preparing to leave for the Navy. We couldn’t be prouder of her and wish her nothing but success in this exciting new chapter. She’s a hardworking young lady, and we know she’ll do great things.

Toni also had visitors at the ranch and KT Bullet Proof found his new home. We always enjoy meeting new people and helping match them with the right horse.

One adventure this week involved quite the convoy when Ben, Kaine, Kade, Maxx, and Keegan headed to St. John to bring home Skip’s vehicles. It made for a pretty memorable caravan rolling down the road.

Breeding season is winding down around here. We’ve pulled Sagebug and Gunner, and let’s just say… neither one is very happy about it! Cappy is essentially finished too, spending a little more time with one outside mare before he’s completely done. Now the Gunner and Sagebug mares have joined Cappy’s mares with foals, and everyone is settling into their summer groups.

We wrapped up the weekend doctoring eyes on Sunday—a reminder that ranch work never really takes a day off.

Every week brings a little hard work, a few challenges, plenty of blessings, and memories made with family and friends.

Have a wonderful Thursday, everyone!
