Finally Friday

If you’re waiting for things to slow down… this probably isn’t your kind of life

We wrapped up a great week at the Spokane Jr Show and now we’re rolling right into another one — headed to Ellensburg for the Jr Angus show this weekend. We’ve still got a handful of mares left to foal, so the mom and the men are holding down the fort while we’re gone.

Thursday Thoughts

Wrapped up a great week at the Spokane Jr Show and now we’re loading up and heading to Ellensburg for another Jr Angus show this weekend — no slowing down around here.

The Spokane Jr Show was a good one. Kade had a strong week, landing 5th overall and 10th overall in FFA market, and his heifer topped it off as Champion FFA Market Heifer. Always proud of the kids and the work they put in. Even better getting to catch up with all our show friends — that’s what makes these shows worth it.

Anna ended up coming home Thursday night and rode over to Spokane with me on Friday. Then Saturday, Anna and I were right back at it — getting mares in, hauling them out with the studs, fixing fence, and keeping things moving.

Saturday kept things busy — JC had a 5-header calf roping, good job JC winning the 2nd round and making it back to Sunday. Then still made it to prom with Kaine that night. Jaxsen and Hailey went out as well, just skipped the prom part.

Back home, it’s been full speed as usual. Dad was working in Kahlotus and then jumped right into hauling Jaxsen around once that wrapped up. Jaxsen has been holding down most of the horse chores, while Mom and I have been busy with the colts.

Annie and Twiggs are doing great — getting turned out during the day and enjoying a little sunshine. Ben, Kaine, and Kicker have been handling cow chores, with Ben fixing circles and chasing water to keep everything running smooth.

We’ve had a few more foals hit the ground this past week, and Dad delivered a few bulls as well — just another week of juggling it all.

Wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

➡️ On to Ellensburg.

💙 Man Crush Monday: KT Heza Pana Dude “Dude” 💙

Some horses leave a mark you don’t forget… and Dude was one of them. We lost him two winters ago, but he’s still very much a part of what we’re building every day.

Dude was a stallion we proudly kept out of Zink—a horse that stood out from the start. He had those unique white markings, that rich golden color, and the kind of look that turned heads everywhere he went. Big bone, big hip, a pretty head, and most importantly—a winning, kind disposition.

He was started by Jordan Crabtree in Ferndale, WA, and was the kind every trainer appreciates—quiet, willing, and easy to get along with. Just a good-minded, honest horse.

At 88% NFQHA, Dude carried the kind of foundation breeding we value. He was a grandson of Pana Dude, with influence from Sheza Major Star and John Zink—a pedigree built on versatility, durability, and cow sense.

And he’s still proving himself where it counts most—his foals.
We’ve got babies hitting the ground by Dude, and they’ve been big, stout, good-minded foals with size, presence, and great personalities. The kind you enjoy being around and look forward to watching grow up.

That’s the kind that sticks with you.

Gone too soon, but his legacy is just getting started.

Golden color, golden mind, and a pedigree to match

KT Makin Gold is the kind that turns heads and wins hearts. This stunning palomino colt has all the pieces—looks, personality, and the kind of breeding that’s built to perform. He’s incredibly sweet, personable, and already acts like he wants to be your partner.

His sire, KT HotTimein Cowtown “Tank,” is a standout son of KR Gun Powder, the 2016 APHA Senior Reining World Champion, who earned nearly $13,000 in NRHA earnings in just nine shows. Gun Powder is by the legendary Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner) and out of A Bueno Poco Dunit—a powerhouse cross of elite reining bloodlines.

Tank’s dam, KT Cow Cuttin Hottie, adds serious cow horse credentials. This is the kind of pedigree that produces horses that can stop hard, stay honest, and go to work.

On the bottom side, KT Queen of Hollywood represents a mare line that’s been proven time and time again. She traces back to KT Copper Queen Cleo, one of our favorite mares from our first foal crop by Docs Sizzle Bar. That line goes back to Copper Queen Robin—a true ranch mare that did it all: roping, ranch work, barrels, and 4-H. She wasn’t even used as a broodmare until her 20s, proving just how much durability and heart she carried.

Queen of Hollywood is by Genuine Dun It, the first NCHA money-earning son of Hollywood Dun It, whose offspring have earned over $5 million. With Genuine Starlet on the bottom side, this colt carries depth, performance, and consistency on every line.

What you’re getting:

  • Eye-catching palomino color

🌟 Finally Friday 🌟

Don’t forget—the sale is tomorrow at the Spokane Junior Livestock Show! If you’re in the area, come support the kids and grab some good cattle, pigs, sheet or goats. Sale starts at 9:00 AM with the SALE OF CHAMPIONS: Beef, Lamb, Goat, Swine. Followed by market auction of: Hogs, Lamb, Goat, Beef

Back at home, it’s full speed ahead. We’re trying to get AI mares bred, running in every direction, and still chasing water—looks like that’ll be the theme all summer.

And no slowing down… we’ve got another show next weekend—the Angus show—so now it’s time to shift gears and get everything dialed in for that.

That’s ranch life—one thing rolls right into the next.

🌾 Thursday Thoughts 🌾

It’s one of those weeks where everyone is spread out, doing their part.

Kade is up at the Spokane Junior Livestock Show with a fat heifer, a steer, and a prospect. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and cheer him on—he’ll be showing Thursday and Friday, with the sale on Saturday. Toni is there with him, holding down camp.

I was planning to go too, but stayed home to take care of Twig’s colt and work on getting him grafted onto Annie. Ranch life doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes you stay where you’re needed most.

Back home, Ben and Kaine are working circle and helping keep things moving, while the men are handling the cow chores. Jaxsen has stepped up big—helping with horse chores and in charge of moving water at Mom and Dad’s.

Anna is up at college and sticking it out there this weekend for work, so we’re definitely down a person… maybe two if you count how much she gets done when she’s here.

That’s ranch life—everyone pulling their weight, wherever they’re at.
