To understand this colt’s mind, start with his mama. KT Copper Isabelle (“Izzy”) is the kind of mare who goes looking for cattle on her own time and still keeps an eye on the dogs. We showed her in NFQHA until an injury sidelined her. She then spent several years doing real ranch work before joining our broodmare band. She’s one of our favorites, and her foals keep proving why. They’re smart, trainable, well put together, and easy to be around.
His sire’s side reads like a who’s who of the performance pen. Midnight Kat DR (“MC”) is by Starlight Midnight, a 2002 black stallion who:
- earned NRHA money
- earned 60+ AQHA points and his ROM
- qualified for the 2007 AQHA World Show in Junior Heeling
Starlight Midnight is a son of the legendary Grays Starlight, one of the leading sires in NRHA, NRCHA and NCHA and a top broodmare sire. Grays Starlight’s offspring have earned more than $10 million. This colt is priced at $5,000. We’ll let you do that math.
MC’s dam, Slick As A Cat DR, adds the cutting horse power. She’s by Magneticat, the big red roan son of Metallic Cat known for bone, size, stop and cow sense. Her dam is by Smooth As A Cat.
Altogether, this colt is 83% NFQHA, with elite reining and cutting blood on top and ranch-proven cow sense underneath. He’s built to stop, turn and think. Take him to reining, cowhorse, ranch versatility, or a long career doing the real work.
