Ranch Horse Monday: KT Sugar Cookie

Sugar Cookie has moved out for a semester abroad. She’s living with the Whetzels right now, trying out the barrel pattern to see if this is her future. She’s out of the same mare as our Jexy, so she’s his half sister, and she comes from a family that knows how to turn and burn.

Her dam, Sugars Badger Doll, “Camie,” is a fancy bay rabicano with good bone, good muscle, and a kind eye. Camie sire, Star Chex Badger, was a son of Peppy San Badger and earned $6,450.39 and a COA in the NCHA. That means Camie outran her dad by about $200. On the papers she carries Doc Bar twice, plus Doc’s Malbec, Win or Lose, and King Fritz. She is also a granddaughter of NCHA cutting mare Docs Star Chex, who earned over $64,000 and a ROM and is still the family’s top earner.

On the top side, Sugar Cookie is by The Goodbye Blues, a son of The Goodbye Lane. The Goodbye Lane has a speed index of 101 and is a top ten leading barrel sire. His dam, Swift Goodbye, SI-110, once held a track record and is a 100% producer of SI-90 or better. He sired barrel standouts TM Miss Laney, Ima Aba Daba Do, and SD Royal Lane, who have already won over $100,000 running barrels. Camie’s $6,650 suddenly looks like lunch money.

Cow sense from her dam’s side, speed from her sire’s side, and a Brown Roan coat to show it all off. We think Sugar Cookie will be fun to watch.
