The kids did not start school until Tuesday, so they rested Monday. Worked on their steers. Kaine and his friend Cyson got the cows in and sorted off 4 to doctor. Toni had a pod cast so Kade stayed to help her get ready for that, before he went down to help with the cows. Then he rode his horse Stormy around with his new hat. His horse Electra cut her foot on the water trough while we were at the fair, so he did not get to ride her. Kaine with to football practice, so Kade helped Ben doctor the cows. The boys’ good friend Keegan came over Monday night to go riding with Kade, Keegan rode the new horse Boon and she did great. We got our 2025 show steers Monday night online.
The kids all left for school on Tuesday, it was a sad day for us all. Toni had court in the morning. We worked on buttoning up a ride for the steers and Tyler in Ohio was gathering them all up and keeping them until Nathan could pick them up. We are excited to have all the steers bought already. Now we are move on to other things. Like buying heifers… It was really windy on Tuesday, so Kade did not ride, not that he did not want too, his mom was a no. Kaine and Jaxsen had football practice.
Wednesday morning was cold for it still being August. Toni said grandma slept poorly, which never makes for a great day when you were up all night. Kaine and Jaxsen had football practice. Toni and I took a video of Blue Shooter and of the mares in the field.
Thursday was a pretty normal day. Chores, football, working on two year olds.
Marlo got done with work early on Friday, so she worked on two of the Evergreen calves. The two she worked on were great. She also helped Toni do chores, I went to stay with grandma after I got home from work. Again, she did not sleep with best. Anna and Lane got home from Moscow Friday night.
Kaine had football practice Saturday, so he was gone when I got home. Lane was working the FFA booth at Ritzville days, so he was gone until lunch Sunday. We got the cows in, we needed to sort out two of the clubby heifers for Aubry to look at, and something else I can not remember, but we decided to wean the bull calves, so we sorted them too. We tied the Hereford steer to Rosie since he is not leading the best yet. Anna worked on the Evergreen steers and the other show steers we are selling. Kaine and Kade tied up their clubs for next year and Kade tied up his heifer. We did chores.
On Sunday I went out and checked Gunner pen and got some hair from Radiant Rifle and Peeps. I also got some pics of some of the heifer calves. I worked on the riding horse fence, the cows knocked it down so the horses are locked in so they don’t go down by Gunner. Kade went dove hunting. Anna and Lane worked on show steers that are for sale. Toni and I made Kaine come down and help us with the horse chores, since he was doing the show cattle chores and Kade was hunting. Kade has been doing most of the night chores since Kaine and Jaxsen have football, so he needed a day off.
