Kaine’s least favorite chore is feeding hay in the winter with Ben driving. Ben does not drive a constant speed and tries to make him fall off. And it is freezing.

Mine is fencing, and I think Toni and Ben must love it, because we do a LOT of fencing. Anna has put it down as a hobby…. Maybe she hangs out with her aunt too much… Hobby??
I think these have all been in the past month.

Least Favorite Chore: Anna: Filling up water troughs, especially in the winter

Kade says his least favorite chore is getting yelled at by his mom for doing what she says, Toni’s rebuttal is that he was clearly not doing it like she said.
Middle picture is fitting because yesterday Toni was telling them how to stand and here Kade is passing the word to July…

I said Toni, what is our new post theme. She said, lets do a funny one, least favorite ranch chore.
She said I will start out, “Being forced to yell at everyone that is doing stuff (I autocorrected her language here) wrong.
What is your favorite ranch chore? Stay tunned to hear everyone else’s.

Zora was Jaxsen’s last show heifer; Jaxsen switched to showing registered steers.
Jaxsen said he really had a fun time working on Zora. As an editor’s note, Zora was a great show heifer, that never actually went to a show because of COVID. We did not take Jaxsen to Idaho with us to show. But Zora is just as tame as all of the rest of the show heifers and raises great calves. She is also one of my favorite heifers.

My favorite show heifer “baby cow” who is now a cow with an interesting name. She was a heifer that excelled in the show ring and did lots of great things in her prime. Then she turned around and has been a great producing cow and has made a great impact in my herd.

How often do you find a show heifer that can compete in the ring not only as a heifer, but go on to be an exceptional cow—one that raises a competitive calf year after year? Even rarer is a cow you build a bond with, a bond that never breaks once she becomes a “normal” pasture cow. 006’s first name “Belle” never quite stuck; to me, she was always Six. Coming back from the COVID shutdown, Six and I were a team to beat. Together, we received showmanship banners across Washington and Idaho, and in 2021, she was the first heifer I took to the National Junior Angus Show. Since being turned out as a cow, Six has never disappointed me. I’ve shown one of her bulls across Washington, Idaho and Montana, and every time she’s pulled from the pasture to compete, she’s earned the Champion Cow-Calf banner. Cows that can truly do it all are hard to find—but Six is one of them.
