Group 2 Halter Breaking was great, Evergreen Sale was a Success and we had fun and still have Friday Night Lights.

Monday was still a nice day, however, the weather man says it was supposed to get cold and raining. But it is October, so to be expected. Anna and Kade had rangeland management practice after school, Kaine and Jaxsen had football practice. Kaine was one of the players of the week, good job buddy. Toni and I started working on group 2, Smokin in clearly the easiest. Tulip lead Saul, Toni worked on Smokin and I worked on Runner.  Runner is our first foal out of Running Sparkles and wow, he is amazing. These three colts go to the same family and we are really excited about this group.

Kade and Anna had a rangeland management competition on Tuesday, however, Anna was not feeling well so did not go. Kade did AWESOME. 6th overall individual, their team got 5th and made it to nationals. Jaxsen had a football game in Mattawa and they won 19 to 6. Jaxsen played an awesome game. Tulip and I worked on the foals and Kaine helped me when he got done with chores. Having Kaine come help with the foals is always an experience. The foals are not used to teenage boys with lots of hair.

On Wednesday Toni and mom went to see grandma in the morning and I went and had dinner with her. Toni worked on the foals. Ben and Anna packed up to go to the Evergreen Sale.  Toni went and got Basil and Rosie so Tulip had help with the foals. All three donkeys led foals Wednesday night.  These three foals are just really big so we needed the extra help. Rosie is the newest donkey that we got from Samee and Pete and she is the toughest of the lot. Probably the youngest. She is also the hardest to deal with, but she isn’t a man killer. You do want to watch her back feet. Once she is hooked she is a rock. Those foals don’t get the best of her. Basil and Tulip and more like semi-retired, because that is what they want. Tulip especially wants to be a pet. We are careful to really treat her the way she chooses to be treated.

On Thursday after the board meeting Marlo, Anna and I headed to Ellensburg for the Evergreen Exclusive Sale. We got there and got set up and head dinner with cousins Bobbette and Ryan. Toni had court and was going over the overpass at Othello while we went under it. Toni and Kade worked on the colts and practiced loading them. They all did great. We like to load them three times each, and since these three are going together we wanted them to load together and understand how to interact.  Mom and dad went to Kaine’s game in Mattawa. Connell played awesome. Kaine is really enjoying football and playing varsity.

On Friday Anna, Marlo and I were in Ellensburg, we had an exhibitor meeting, we washed the steers and heifers, went to lunch with Lyyskis, and had a great time. That night was the banquet, Anna spoke as the president and did the Willard Wolf memorial scholarship.  Toni had court early in Pasco and had an awesome hearing with a major win. Toni practiced loading the colts some more.  She was loading them individually on Friday to make sure the colts would load on their own. She was on her own so the loading exercise took a few hours. Boys did chores.

On Saturday morning Anna, Marlo and I had breakfast with Lyyskis, after washing and feeding the heifers and steers, then we went back to the rodeo grounds to get set up. Toni and Dad came up to Ellenburg, Toni was in charge of the judging classes and was excited about that. She rounded up 4 classes and a bunch of kids. She then had to judge the cards. It was exciting to see how all the kids did. Anna didn’t get any of the winner money, but was right off the winners. Then we visited and showed the heifer and steers and had the sale. The Sale was great. Thank you Aram for buying Gogo and Ruth and Gary for buying 303. The sale was great, thank you to everyone that came and bid on the heifer and steers. We hauled 9 head back, we bought a steer and heifer (steer for Jaxsen and heifer for Anna) and then hauled 7 back for other people. Toni met with a client on the way home. Kade went hunting Saturday with uncle Tata. Kaine went to Middletons and hung out with friends. Ben did ranch work and got ready for the Nile. When Anna, Marlo and I got back, we had one person there to pick up his two heifers and then one person showed up shortly after to get her heifer.  Kaine and Kade had done chores, and Kaine helped Marlo and I work on the colts. Wow, Saturday was just flat busy.

Sunday morning Brad showed up bright and early to get his two steers. Then we loaded out the three colts to their new home, and took their grandkids out to pet Baby Blackie, Celest and Halo. Next Toni and I got in the mares and moved ones from circle 5 home and ones from home to circle 5. Weaned all of the sold foals and most of the big ones. We only left 2 colts in circle 5 but 27 head of mares.  Kaine went hunting with Keegan. Kade, Jaxsen and Anna worked on their heifers and steers and Anna and McCall packed up to go.  We got three more foals in to work on for the week. Capone, Mercedes, and Bailey. Two foals by Gunner and one by Sagebug. They are all super super big. They haltered really well and we are ready to work on them for the week.

We are excited that Basin Feed and Supply brought treat bags with coupons inside for us to give to people picking up foals. Thank you Maria for bringing those! It is really fun to have Basin Feed and Supply help us with our care packages for our buyers.

Thank you to everyone that supported Anna with her first reg Angus consignment sale. She put in a ton of work to get those calves ready and had a great sale. We are very proud of her accomplishment and appreciate all of the support she received from everyone.
