So… what are our big weekend plans?

“Work, work, work… day after day…” That pretty much sums it up around here!

We’ve got plenty to catch up on, and there won’t be much sitting still.

Kade is busy helping with wheat harvest.

Anna is hard at work getting show calves halter broke. If you’re looking for a quality show calf, be sure to reach out to her! She has both steers and heifers available.

Kaine is getting ready for his CDL driving test on Tuesday, so he’ll be spending plenty of time behind the wheel getting in those practice miles. Good luck, Kaine!

Jaxsen is putting in time with his steers. Fair season is coming fast, and there’s still plenty to do before show day.

Ben is working on irrigation circles… because that job is never-ending this time of year.

As for the rest of us? We’ll be moving horses, fixing fence, spraying weeds, showing horses to prospective buyers, and tackling whatever else the ranch throws our way. There’s always another project waiting around the corner!

Oh yea, we have puppies too if anyone needs one give a shout out.

It’s been a great week around the ranch!

Saturday started bright and early as we headed to the Sagebrush Classic. We had a wonderful time, and a big thank you to everyone who helps put that show together—it’s always a first-class event.

Foxxy was named Grand Champion Cow once again. I may have tried talking Anna into retiring her from the show ring… but I think Foxxy had other plans and made sure to prove me wrong!

Sunday was spent putting out mineral, which gave me the perfect excuse to snap some new pictures around the ranch. We also pulled hair from Toffee to send in for color verification, so we’re looking forward to seeing those results.

Tuesday brought a little excitement when a large fire broke out east of Connell. Thankfully, firefighters were able to get it under control fairly quickly. It was impressive watching the air tankers scoop water from Scootney Reservoir as they worked to contain the fire.

On Wednesday, Toni, Dr. Thonney, Kaine, and Jaxsen spent the day ultrasounding mares. It’s always exciting to check pregnancies and start looking ahead to next year’s foal crop.

Every week brings something different, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable weekend!

Some horses earn their place in the barn by proving themselves every day, and Pow has certainly done that. Today, she’s Kaine’s go-to riding horse, whether it’s long days checking cattle, gathering pairs, or just heading out across the ranch. She’s the kind of mare that’s dependable, athletic, and always ready to go to work.

Pow is especially special to us because she’s a full sister to our stallion, KT HotTimein Cowtown (“Tank”). The same exceptional cross that produced Tank also produced this outstanding ranch mare, and she’s shown us exactly why we repeated the breeding.

Her sire, KR Gun Powder, is by the legendary Colonels Smoking Gun (“Gunner”) and out of A Bueno Poco Dunit. In just nine NRHA shows, Gun Powder earned nearly $13,000 and claimed the 2016 APHA Senior Reining World Championship, proving that elite talent doesn’t require a long show career to leave a lasting impression.

On the maternal side, Pow is out of KT Cow Cuttin Hottie, a daughter of Cow Cuttin Colonel, one of the cow horse industry’s most accomplished sires. Cow Cuttin Colonel earned numerous NRCHA and AQHA titles throughout his career, producing horses known for their cow sense, athleticism, and versatility.

Pow combines those elite performance bloodlines with exactly what we value most—a practical, dependable ranch horse. She’s quick-footed, cowy, level-headed, and the kind of mare you can count on day after day.

Watching Kaine and Pow work together has been rewarding. She’s become one of those horses you naturally reach for because you know she’ll get the job done.

There are always a few that are just a little harder to let go…

Pippa is one of those fillies.

Truthfully, part of us hopes she doesn’t sell because we’d have the perfect excuse to keep her. She’s the complete package—beautiful, intelligent, athletic, and incredibly people-oriented.

This fancy blaze-faced buckskin has been special from the beginning. She was one of the easiest horses we’ve ever halter broke. She caught on quickly, wanted to learn, and now she’s the first one to meet you at the gate looking for attention. She has the kind of disposition that makes you look forward to spending time with her.

Pippa is sired by Midnight Kat DR (“MC”), whose pedigree is packed with proven performers. He is by Starlight Midnight, an NRHA money-earner, AQHA World Show qualifier, and son of the legendary Grays Starlight, whose offspring have earned more than $10 million across the NRHA, NRCHA, and NCHA.

On the maternal side, Pippa is out of KT Miss Benelli Girl (“Nelli”), one of our favorite mares. Nelli is a big, eye-catching buckskin Patricia originally wanted to keep, and it’s easy to see why. She traces to Dry Spec A Pepper, Dry Doc, and Cue Bars Laddie, bringing generations of proven cutting, ranch, and all-around performance horses into Pippa’s pedigree.
