This 2026 colt is by the outstanding gray stallion Hired Gun and out of our exceptional mare CVP Paddys Absolute, “Abs.” With cowhorse, cutting, and proven performance genetics stacked throughout his pedigree, this colt has all the ingredients we look for in a future athlete.
His sire, Hired Gun, is an AQHA/FQHA gray stallion with $34,680 in LTE and offspring earnings exceeding $417,000. He is by the legendary Playgun and out of Peppys Serenade, and is an impressive 88.28% FQHA stallion. Hired Gun’s offspring are proving themselves in cutting, ranch work, and cowhorse events, with multiple aged-event championships and finals appearances, including championships at the Silver Slate and Idaho Open Classic Challenges.
Then you get to the bottom side, and it gets even better.
Hired to Play’s dam, CVP Paddys Absolute (“Abs”), is a daughter of legendary sire Paddys Irish Whiskey, an NRCHA All-Time Leading Sire and Equi-Stat All-Time Leading Reined Cow Horse Sire. His offspring have earned nearly $1.5 million and more than 4,500 AQHA points, including numerous AQHA World and Reserve World Championships.
Abs is out of Eternal Enterprise, a producer of multiple money earners including Electrical Spark, Electric Wire, and Jacs Eternal Spark. This maternal line traces back to influential names including Great Pine, Mr Gunsmoke, and Be Aech Enterprise, adding even more depth and proven performance to this pedigree.
Hired to Play has the pedigree, presence, athleticism, and potential to be something special. We can see him having a future in the rope pen, on the ranch, in the cowhorse arena, or wherever we decide to take him.
