Lena is a really sweet filly. She loves people, loves attention, and will happily take all the scratches you’re willing to hand out. She comes by it honestly: her sire, Midnight Kat DR, is known for being quiet, personable and easy to be around. Lena just took that and added a little extra “pick me!”
Sire side: Midnight Kat DR comes from the Davis Ranch program in Logan, Utah and was started by Clint Davis. He’s quiet, extremely trainable and athletic, with the ability to extend, bend and move with real quickness and balance. He’s a pleasure in the arena and around the ranch.
He’s by Starlight Midnight, a 2002 black stallion and NRHA money-earner who qualified for the 2007 AQHA World Show in Junior Heeling, earned more than 60 AQHA points and holds an AQHA ROM. Starlight Midnight is by the legendary Grays Starlight, whose offspring have earned more than $10 million, making him one of the leading sires in the NRHA, NRCHA and NCHA. Midnight Kat DR’s dam, Slick As A Cat DR, is by Magneticat, a red roan stallion known for his size, bone, cow sense and big stop. Magneticat is a son of Metallic Cat, one of the most influential sires in the cutting horse industry.
Dam side: Twist (Sheriffsredpinedoll) is a buckskin mare with a strong reining pedigree. She’s by The Sheriff Dunit, a son of the legendary Hollywood Dun It. The Sheriff Dunit earned more than $3,500 in the NRHA, was in the AQHA Top 10 for High Point Senior Reining, and holds AQHA ROMs in Open and Amateur Reining with 51 AQHA points. Twist’s dam, Headin For Hollywood, is also a money-earner. She’s by Great Red Pine, who earned $60,952, placed third at the 1991 Congress Futurity and fourth at the 1991 NRHA Futurity. Twist’s pedigree also traces back to the legendary Hollywood Jac 86.
That’s Grays Starlight, Metallic Cat, Hollywood Dun It, Great Red Pine and Hollywood Jac 86, all in one sweet buckskin filly. With that much cow and reining blood behind her, Lena has the breeding to go cutting, reined cow horse, ranch versatility or roping. And she’ll be the first one at the gate to meet you.
