Thursday Thoughts

Another great week has come and gone, and it’s hard to believe how fast this summer is flying by!

This week we got pictures of Kade and Jaxsen with their steers for the Benton Franklin Fair. Fair season is just around the corner, and we’re excited to see how they do.

Jexy got to head to a playday, and Ty said he was great. We always love hearing that our horses are doing exactly what they’re bred and trained to do.

With no shows on the schedule last weekend, we took advantage of the time at home and got caught up on ranch work. Sometimes those weekends are just as productive as being on the road.

Friday, Chad came out to trim horses, and Jaxsen and I helped hold horses. It’s one of Jaxsen’s favorite jobs, and he’s always happy to spend the day around the horses. I feel like if you know Jaxsen you will know the correct tone to read that in.

There have been plenty of individual projects around the ranch too:

  • Kade spent Saturday helping with wheat harvest, then had Sunday off to work with Frappe, who continues to make us proud with her progress.
  • Anna worked with the heifers and steers she has for sale and even found time to rebuild some fence.
  • We’ve been working on loading Payday in the trailer as he may soon be headed to Oregon. Toni took him in today to get his travel papers, so we’re excited to see what’s next for him.
  • Ben worked his other job on Saturday, then spent Sunday working on irrigation circles. He also got a new washer and dryer while Kaine and I hauled the old ones out.

One of the biggest highlights this week was Kaine passing his CDL test on Tuesday! Congratulations! That’s a huge accomplishment and another step toward the future.

We also said goodbye to Dally and Rey as they headed to their new home. It’s never easy to watch good ones leave, but we’re excited for the adventures ahead for them and wish their new owners many happy years together.

Don’t forget we have Idaho Shagg puppies for anyone wanting a puppy shoot me a message.

As always, we’re thankful for family, good horses, and another productive week on the ranch. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and good luck to all those gearing up for fair season!
