Thursday Thoughts

Spring ranch life keeps rolling around here. We’re getting ready to head to the Desert Storm, a cattle show in Hermiston, this weekend. We still need to get the cows worked. The last few bulls are waiting on buyers to be ready. We do have one Hereford bull left if anyone is looking for a bull.

Last week was also FFA State Convention, and we’re pretty proud of our crew. Jaxsen competed on the Freshman Food Processing and Meats Evaluation teams, where they placed 1st and 4th in the state. Kade was the State Winner in Cooperative Quiz and Interview and earned an $800 scholarship, and Kaine received his State Degree. A lot of hard work went into those accomplishments, and it’s fun seeing it pay off.

Kaine also gave his senior presentation this week. Him, Cyson, and Maxx painted the lines for CBJLS and did a great job presenting their project. All three boys are also in Mr. Dansie’s CDL class, and it meant a lot that he came down to watch them give their presentation.

Toni and Dad also made a trip to pick up mares from Allie’s, and we got some exciting news while they were there — both Sally and Twist are confirmed in foal!

Sally is bred to Heracles, a 2022 AQHA palomino stallion owned by Jake Bennett. He’s sired by leading barrel racing sire Epic Leader and out of UX Kimmitted ta Fame. Standing in Soap Lake, Washington, Heracles is being campaigned as a top-tier barrel prospect, and we’re excited to see what that cross brings.

It’s always fun looking ahead to next year’s foals while juggling everything else ranch life throws at us
