AQHA Summer Checklist

Two of our close friends DID do #1 on the list this summer. Even seeing their pictures on Facebook of the AQHA Hall of Fame and Museum was pretty cool.

The sun is shining, the grass is green and the American Quarter Horse Association has 10 must-do’s you do not want to miss out on this summer. From visiting the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo to attending the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show, you’ll have a summer to remember – a summer with AQHA.

  1. Visit the Hall of Fame & Museum, the mission of which is to preserve and interpret the history and modern uses of the American Quarter Horse and cultivate future enthusiasts. The people and horses honored within the Museum’s walls have earned their places as legends.
  2. Bank of America Youth Excellence Seminar: 2016 YES, which is July 12-14 in Amarillo, welcomes AQHYA members and nonmembers, ages 10 to 18, to experience this three-day, fun-packed event that offers valuable leadership skills, inspiring speakers and tons of fun.
  3. National Day of the Cowboy: Join AQHA in celebrating National Day of the Cowboy July 23 at the Hall of Fame. Everyone is welcome to come learn more about American cowboys and their trusty mounts, American Quarter Horses.
  4. Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show: The Ford Youth World, which is August 5-13 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, features the world’s top youth riders and their American Quarter Horses. AQHYA members will find glory outside of the arena, as well. Youth members have the chance to compete in an array of contests: from judging to speech.   5. Horseback Riding Program: The AQHA Horseback Riding Program’s Quarter Horse and All-Breed divisions, sponsored by SmartPak, Professional’s Choice and Noble Outfitters, are designed to reward AQHA and AQHYA members for the time they spend in the saddle.
  6. Hit the Trails: AQHA’s Trail Ride Program, which began in 1997, annually hosts nearly 80 rides around the world. If you have a horse, you’re welcome to participate! What’s even better, Trail Ride Program participants have the perfect opportunity to earn AQHA Horseback Riding Program hours.

Miss Henny Penny Jet & Colt – 3 way

Miss Henny Penny Jet was broke to ride and ridden for a few years; she was used for trail riding, ranch work and started roping. She was injured and is now a brood mare, she has been ridden a few times since shew as injured but is not sound for hard riding. She is by Design Jet, a son of New Design. On the bottom side she goes back to AQHA Race money earner, Fast Commander. She has a colt at her side by Sams Sweet Bogie. Sams Sweet Bogie is a money earning son of Bogie Biankus. Bogie Biankus is a 5X Columbia River Circuit Finals Barrel Racing Champion, competed at NFR; Randi Rea Britt owned Bogie Biankus when he went to the NFR with Katie McCoin Garthwaite; Sire of BOGIES LIL SKEETER Ridden by Liz Combs won 2011 and 2012 championship barrels at College National Finals Rodeo; 2012 AQHA horse of the year in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Miss Henny Penny is being bred to KT Gunpowder n Lead for 2017.

KT Colonels Smokin Gun

KT Colonels Smokin Gun is a fancy smoky black colt is out of Plain Dark Choclet, “Rudy”, and by KT Gunpowder N Lead. Rudy was shown back in her prime. KT Frankly Alotta Poppy

KT Frankly Alotta Poppy is a grey filly is out of Frankly Rosie and is By Double Captain Coy. “Rosie” is a nice grey mare out of Frankly Majestic and is Tuff Continental bred on the bottom. She is has an awesome disposition and a great confirmation. KT Jackpot City

KT Jackpot City is out of Lenas Abbie N Charge and is by City Smarts. Jackpot is a really cute dun colt that was born 8/21/14. This colt is going to be a performance deluxe. “Abbie” is a daughter of Smart Like Lena with Mr. Charge Bar on the bottom side. Smart Like Lena is a son of Smart Little Lena and has lifetime earnings of over $89,000.00 a ROM in cutting, and has sired offspring earning over $100,000 in NCHA money. Many people think of Mr. Charge Bar, on Abbie’s bottom side, as a racehorse, which he was, but he also was an NCHA money earner, had 33 AQHA performance points, 11 halter points, and an SI of 75. City Smarts is by An Educated Guess, 385 reining points, and the highest point earning son of Smart Chic Olena. City has a full brother that is a reiner and priced at $13,000. This is a pretty moving colt with tons of ability.

We finally had our last foal, A Tuff Edition, “Tuffy”, had this cute filly by Captains Double Coy. Most of Tuffy’s foals have had car names,  Chevy, Jeff, Ford. We are having a hard time picking out of for this cute filly, KT A Tuff Mustang, KT Doubles Shelby? Does anyone have any good suggestions?
