Thursday Thoughts

It’s been a busy and exciting week here at KT Ranch! We hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day filled with family, friends, and making memories.

Kade got the opportunity to help with slack at the Basin City Rodeo this week. He also hauled Reina along to see how she handled the atmosphere. Benelli is usually his go-to rodeo horse, but it’s always exciting to get another young horse some experience.

Kaine spent time at the Toppenish Rodeo with his girlfriend, JayCee, who competed in breakaway roping. They had a great time, and it’s always fun to support one another doing what you love.

We were happy to welcome several mares back home just in time for the Fourth! Friday and Minnie returned after visiting Allison’s stallions, Garth and Chief. Kona came home after being at John’s, and Abs returned from Tina’s place so she can be bred as well. Breeding season keeps us on our toes, but it’s exciting to look ahead to next year’s foals.

Bullet Proof made a trip to Sagehill Veterinary Service to see Sheena and get gelded before heading off to his new home in California. We know he’ll make someone a wonderful partner, and we’re excited for his future.

The highlight of the week was celebrating the Fourth of July surrounded by family. Those are the moments that remind us why we love this ranch life.

Anna has been staying busy with her internship at Ag Health while also spending evenings halter breaking calves to get them ready to sell this fall.

Kade officially kicked off wheat harvest in Kahlotus, all while continuing to ride Frappe and getting both his steer and heifer ready for the Sagebrush Classic this Saturday. This will be Anna’s final year showing as a junior, making this show season extra special. She’s taking a heifer, a steer, and two cow/calf pairs, while Kaine will be exhibiting one of his heifers.

Kaine has also been logging his CDL driving hours and plans to take his test next week. Once that’s behind him, he’ll begin working for Basin Heating & Air until classes start at Perry Technical Institute this fall.

As always, there’s never a dull moment around the ranch. We feel incredibly blessed to do what we love, spend time with great people, and watch these kids continue to chase their goals.

Good luck to everyone headed to the Sagebrush Classic this weekend—we hope to see you there!
