Donkeys

Our donkeys are critical to our halter breaking crew. We have a great herd of donkeys right now.

Tulip is our first donkey, and we might have spoiled her. We bought Tulip out of Iowa and have used her on cattle and foals. She is mainly used on foals now. We all love Tulip and she has put up with sleigh bells in the winter, letting kids pet her and general pet like uses.

Basil is our second donkey, he originally came from the same place as Tulip, however we got him via a friend. He is the most standoffish of the donkeys and likes to stay out of the way. But he does a great job pulling and is quiet to leave in with the foals. Basil has pulled cattle and foals.

Rosie is our third donkey, she also originally came from the same place as Basil and Tulip. We think Rosie is the youngest donkey, and we have found out she really likes treats. Rosie is our hardest pulling donkey, however, she can also be the most obstinate of the donkeys. Rosie has done great pulling cattle and horses and continues to do both.

May and June came to us from Steve Jarmin in Ellensburg. They are both really good at their job and are very social donkeys.

In April 2025 May gave birth to July, our first ranch raised donkey.

I guess we still did not have enough donkey, now we also have Mr Pickles. He came to us from our good friend Tina.
